New 12 bolt Rear/ questions.

Hello again everyone. I want to start out by listing my setup: its a 1971 Nova with a 475ish horsepower 454, backed by a newly rebuilt turbo 350, and a stock 8.2 inch 10 bolt rear. Well for Christmas my dad bought me a 12 bolt rear end to replace the 8.2 10 bolt because I was pretty sure it would break before too long. Anyway, the 12 bolt I recieved came out of a 70-71 Nova SS, so it should bolt right in. I got the numbers off of it and ran them. Turns out the rear is an "open rear with a 3.07 gear" (compliments of NoveResource.com). I wanted to but a slightly lower gear in it (probably a 3.55), and also wanted to make it positive traction. I was wondering how I go about doing that? As in what do I need to buy? Do I need a completely new carrier and all? Or can I just buy the gear I want and there is another way to make it posi traction? This might be a totally stupid questions because it's not possible, and if it is, please do tell me. I was just trying to figure a way of doing it without having to buy a new carrier because those things seeem to sell in the 500 dollar range and I don't have that kind of money right now. Any info you guys can say is really appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Rob

Summit has this, PWT-1910-LR, for $279.95. This isn't a posi, but a locker. Actually better. And, you don't have to change your gear set up to put it in.

For the gear.
RMG-4900951
RMG-8310191
And you will need to either have the tools and expertise to set up the gear yourself or have someone do it for you.
