I just assembled a rebuilt 454 with basically all stock components. Stock flat top pistons, 268 Isky cam, 049 heads, wiend action plus intake all msd ignition system, and a proform 750 dp. I cannot keep this engine from getting over 210 in less than a 10 mile drive.. I have recurved the distributor several times, rejetted the carb. several times, readjusted the valves, and verified correct TDC. Stock water pump, aluminum 2 row 1" inch cores, 2 12" electric fans manually controlled, and I had a 180 degree themostat and switched to a 160 degree thermostat,(thought the 180 thermostat was bad). Everything I have tried has netted decent results, but still cant keep her under 210 degrees. Afraid to drive further for fear of overheating engine and getting stranded. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me?
