which oval port heads are they? (casting number) can be found under valve cover on head

if they are peanut ports, there is only one intake that I know of here it is , that and a good quadrajet carb (here is an example) would be good choices

if its not peanut ports and they are standard oval port heads, I would use an edelbrock rpm intake and a 750 holley type carb

but i'm no expert

matts37chev, your advice is spot-on IMHO. The aluminum PP intake would be my choice by far. The cast iron PP intake for the Q-jet is an OK piece if the cam is mild, but it is heavy and has an EGR port that will need to be blocked off most likely. Don't be tempted to use an adaptor on it to run a squarebore carb, though.

Many say the port mismatch using a standard oval port intake on PP heads doesn't hurt- some say it even helps- but I'm of the mind that I want the ports to match.
