new build one wire alternator question

I have a 1985 chevy silverado new build has chrome one wire alternator was wondering it has airride and the one wire is hooked in to the main starter lug is this the right way because the battery keeps going dead or should it be straight to the battery also it did have a plug for the alternator but i didnt hook it up should i have and then jumped it over to the hot wire. the bad thing is the compressors kick on when the tanks are empty and it pulls some amps until the truck starts running but eventually just dies then it just clicks any help is appreciated.

I DON'T MEAN TO BE CRITICAL BUT DID U READ WHAT U WROTE? I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT U R ASKING?
YOU'VE GOT 7 LINES AND ONLY 1 PERIOD.
WHAT HAS AIRRIDE GOT TO DO WITH YOUR ?
THE ONE WIRE FROM WHAT IS HOOKED TO THE MAIN STARTERLUG.
DO YOU MEAN THE ALTERNATER WIRE IS HOOKED TO THE LEAD THAT COMES FROM THE BATTERY AT THE STARTER?
IF SO THAT IS CORRECT.
WHAT HAD A PLUG FOR THE ALTERNATER?
JUMPED WHAT TO WHAT HOT WIRE?
NOT KNOWING HOW THE COMPRESSOR IS WIRED ALL I CAN SAY IS IT SHOULD BE WIRED SO IT ONLY COMES ON WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE ON POSITION AND GOES OFF WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE START POSITION.
DID YOU SIZE THE ALTERNATER FOR ALL THE THINGS THAT IT WILL BE RUNNING?
I HOPE THIS HELPS.
IN YOUR FUTURE POSTS PLEASE TRY TO BE MORE DETAILED AND USE PERIODS SO WE KNOW WHEN TO SEPARATE THE THINGS YOU ARE TELLING US ABOUT. MAKES IT EASIER FOR US TO HELP YOU.
