New carpet install

Anybody know the best way to finish of this carpet? Should it roll up to the top edge of the lip and get covered by the sill plate or should it trimmed to the exact floor? This is for a 67 nova.

In the original I believe it went under the sill plate and was secured by the sill plate.

Yes, most cars that had sill plates were there for two reasons, to protect the edge of the door as you got in and out, and to provide a way to finish the carpet. Vince is right, the carpet goes under the sill plate.
