New carpet question

I'm having the a new custom interior put in my 57 Chevy. The guy doing it is very good and I've seen his work at several shows. My question is he is suggesting I go with the type of carpet that can be molded when heated. He said it fits really nice and looks great. It seems kind of thin to me. I do have jute padding to glue under it. Does anyone have any experience with this type of carpet and does it hold up well?

It would have to be thinner to be able to be molded and hold a shape. You're the customer, what would you prefer? I would rather have heavier wool carpet in my car, and that is not easily molded. It would have to be cut to shape and sewed together.
