New engine breakin proceedure...
I ran across an unusual (to me) procedure for breaking in a new engine and it leads me to a few questions.

First, what do you think of this procedure:

and last, if you disagree, what method do you recommend for breaking in a new engine.

We used this method on our small block Chevy about 2 years ago and have had great results. Personally I will never do it any other way again. Make sure the entire engine is pre-lubed all fluids are correct timing is set etc on initial start-up and do as it says. Good luck, ccnova

I agree. That is how I break them in "Break them in like you are going to run them". My 1st mud run was the day after I put my motor in and this was a 4-run 200' mud drag. The motor was run just long enough to set total timing and adjust the carburetor the night before (maybe 3-4 minutes). People thought I was crazy to do this but this is the way I break in new or rebuilt motor since I been racing one way or another.

Give break in the same consideration you did upon assmebly or in slaving away earning all that cash to purchase the motor. Lot's of little hiccups can be caught on a proper break in that otherwise can turn into a disaster.
