New gas tank for a 47 ford pu

Hi All, I've got a 47 for pick up and I'd like to relocate the gas tank under the bed. I'd like the filler to be located on the rear of the rear fender (lots of room).
Has anyone done this or simlar and can recommend a tank and etc.

Give No Limit Engineering a call. www.nolimit.net . If you give them your frame measurements and how deep you want it, they can do it. I got an 18+ gallon tank in my '45 that works great.

Tank re locate

If you have good welding skills like me you can mod orig ,unless it`s too far gone. My tank had been setting for years empty, inside a barn. I cut a seven inch section out of it,sand blasted the inside ,cleaned it really well and welded the pieces back together. I sealed over the weld with silicone and coated the inside with tank sealer ,"made for gas tanks". Also moved the inlet tube to where I wanted it. I did this because I could and because I`m cheap and of the Rat rod persuasion "sp" Good luck which ever way you go. Jerry

the tank from a 64 1/2 - 66 mustang will fit between the frame rails. You will need to remove approx 1/2 - 3/4 off of the top of the frame at the rear . Use a mustang pickup & float assy. Calibrate the gauge to Ford operation.

the fill is at the back of the tank, i cut a hole in the bed, attached a SHORT piece of hose & a short ipiece of fill neck. when we redo the bed this winder, i plan on raising the floor a couple of inches. Then i can get a door from rock valley, or hagen, and hide the filler neck
