New guy from 29 palms

Hey, I'm here to glean info on old school hot rod tech. I'm building a couple of small blocks with stuff I have lying around. I have two late 60's mid 70's blocks and a set of lt-1 heads rebuilt that i got as payment. I am building a budget power 350 with vortec heads and a performer manifold with carb " I had a ready made conversion intake sitting around. And a lt-1 head on gen one block. Don't bother trying to talk me out of it. I already have a good bottom end, manifold, and complete heads. All I need is which ports to block and where and how much to drill for coolant passages to prevent overheating with a gen one coolant system. Basically the biggest reasons I'm here. The lt conversion isn't for power, just a " oh cool" factor.

Good question. I have another post for cheap vortec head build. It will be a 75' Scottsdale longbed. And. 54' savoy but not sure at this point which. The lt-1 retro would be trick in the savoy because of uniqueness. But the vortec motor would be rubber roasting fun too. Trying to source a kit to install an sbc into the savoy. The steering will get in the way and there is an issue with mounting fabrication for engine/tranny mounts.

Nah, there are some guys over on the HAMB that have done this, apparently common. I'm going to try to find out the source and post it in a new thread for all to see.
