To tell you the truth I saw the rust lines in the roof and the pillar and thought someone had chopped and streched it a little bit but I guess it was from something else,but regaurdless it looks great even if it wasnt chopped also I was thinking I wanted to chop mine but decided against it it looks great as is,its already pretty low and all I could do is screw it up ,so I didnt do it (maybe I'll chop the other one just for the heck of it just to see what it looks like,its just a hulk ,parts car anyway)....I always wanted a biz coupe, it didnt really matter what make because I also thought they all looked alike but they all looked cool. much better than a sedan but I got a ride home from a bar in a 40 ford and thought THATS the coolest car I ever been in.....,so is yours a biz coupe ? I'd be surprized if it wasn't It has the biz coupe look and its really cool ,the short 1/4 glass,longer deck lid,etc...but basicly they all do look similar, you have to really look close to see the differances between the makes,my mechanic friend always asks : hows that willies coming,I wish (thats my all time favorite ,especially a gasser ,what a car to have....I'm sure there are those that think that a willies gasser looks stupid too,I'm just not one of them any gasser looks cool IMO....A willies gasser just happens to be my # 1 choice, if I could have any car I wanted....since I'm poor I got the first biz coupe I found when I found, it was the only... untouched, (rotted out POS)that I could afford....but I really wanted one...
Its not done but I've insured it and drove it a little (less than 20 miles) now I'm gearing up to take it all back apart and finish it up,painting everything as I go...The hard part is getting started again, I love the fact that I can start it up and go,its come so far....
Anyways if you ever need inspiration just look at what I started with ,you just have to keep at it ,a little at a time....like my good friend Brian (martin Sr), says ...5 min a day is all it takes ,dont let it sit ,just do something every day on it.....heres some pics of my 48 biz coupe (my wife called it a chicken coupe for quite a while)....

.I will get them on for you and help you in any way I can with your build ....not that you'll need any,but I do have some contacts that'll be a big help for parts and such....some of this stuff is hard to find....

I've got some friends who still can't differentiate my Austin from an Anglia. A couple of them constantly ask me about my "Anglia". No matter how many times I correct them, and say Austin. And these are car guys.

Sorry work has been real busy here + it has been to dam cold to get out to the garage it takes an hour to heat it to a working temp & now we are looking at 2' of snow this weekend so it's in delay mode ! Just going to look for parts online looking for a grill housing/rad support already bought a hood should arrive tues or wed. Thanks guys for all the positive remarks ! I believe it is a business coupe no mounting holes or sign of a seat location ! Di all the trunks come factory ribbed like a new pickup bed ???

Thanks! I'm hoping to start on gasser #2 once I finish the home remodel. A '63 Falcon with a tunnel rammed 454 Chevy, and super T10 behind it!

Heres some pics of what I stsrted with so if you ever get over whelmed and think it cant be done, just remember these ,it CAN be done...My best advise is not to look at it as one big job ,break it down into many smaller jobs( bite size pieces_)..and every time a small job gets completed you'll have a sence of accompleshment

I'm in the same boat the wife say's no garage till her kitchen is done !!! So unfair ! I had the same problem when I built my vet. I had to redo my master bed room !!!! Truly not complaining she is the best and its fair so got all the cabs today looks like two weeks left and I am out there !!!

a friend of mine had a 68 or 69 fairlane set up as a gasser and it was cool verrrrrry radical and tough to drive but dang that thing was cool as hail...That was years ago when I was a teen,so was he and it wasnt built very well but it ran strong and could pull the wheels off the ground ,I hate that... when I'm in the passenger side

I was seriously thinking of making a gasser out of the other 48 ply or possibly a chopped roadster type thing with no sheetmetal on the front end..It'llbe awhile anyway, so I got time...I really want to chop it though ,I'm leaning towards the gasser but I dont think it would look right with a chopped top ,I dont think anyways,maybe i'll try it and see ..You ever see a gasser with a chopped top??? Hmmmmmm...

Should have made her promise that when kitchen is done thats it no more big projects until the cars done....and she has to help with both....Thats what I did but I love to cook and she dont so it was a win ,win for me. LOL, Plus now the door to the garage is through the kitchen but my garage is a woodshop at home ,I needed a wood shop to make the cabinettes,so I started the garage a little early.... but she didnt help either (thank god)... (other than picking out the shade of stain and wall paint)so she didnt complain ....much....

Lok at the differance in the original height to my new height ,I like em low a 2" chop might look even better but I didnt want to spend the extra time with all the NEEDED work that had to be done at the time...
The Biz coupes are the sheet buddy and you have a great one.I wouldnt chop it ,I'd get it running and drivable (no paint ) just black primer and dark tinted glass....

Yes, I've seen several chop top gassers, but NHRA had limits on how far you could chop them (2"-3" if I remember right) so they aren't ever a radical chop. Big John Mazmanian's Austin gasser was a chop top version.
