Post New guy here....... I need your help.

Hi everyone,
I just found this site and I really like it. I just bought a 71 firebird that is very mechanically sound (drove it from CA to Tx) and I want to "restore" it, but not to originality, but show quality.

I need your help because I want to be able to put 17" wheels that fit a late model fbody on this car. The back spacing is all wrong in the rear (hits leaf spring) and in front the round "dust cover" is too big for the hole in the wheel.

Is there any way to get around these issues without messing up the rear seat?

1. how difficult is it to put a 3rd gen rear axle under car to widen axle to get away from leaf spring.

here is link to car w/ wheels I want to put on it.
they are 17"x9.5" ROH SP wheels.

I am going to be putting wheels and tires real soon because body work is already being done.

thanks again.
