new here

Just joined and wanted to post some of my work. Id love to know what you all think. And just as a warning, the owner of the shop I was working for, had some horrible taste in my opinion lol Granted my car is in red leopard print, but at least it still looks decent!
-Whitney

Before and after of my 57 Cadillac (hence the name ). Rear seats, and the front and back of the front bench and arm rest.
The tan cloth is a 32 Ford 5 window and a Slantback
The cream is a 40s Ford convertible - that was my first top, dont think Ive got pics yet thouh
And the green and white is in a 40s Merc - or a giant pickle...

That's some nice work, Whitney. I agree with you about some of the colors, but the customer is always right, right? Welcome to the board, and I hope you can put up with the sometimes painfully dumb questions and comments I have at times. I'm a total newbie to this, and I'm having a blast learning with Dan, Alan, Sniper, and everyone else who's taking the time out of their busy lives to help out. You'll not find a better bunch of people online.

Just be warned - this forum is worthless without pictures, the more the better, so be ready to wear out your camera.

lol read again silly. I finished it with my name! Just to cover all the bases heres a better background intro..

Im Whitney, originally from Annapolis area of Maryland. Ive had schooling in just about everything for cars from engine to body work, but felt most comfortable in upholstery. I went to Wyotech 05-06, where I learned how to do interiors. Before I graduated I was hired at a 'rod shop' north of Pittsburgh. Cranked out..ehh 5 or full interiors for them form oct to jan. to be ready for the World of Wheels show in Pitt. And the thanks I got was to be let go a couple weeks later (yeah, Im bitter) And if my work was the reason, someone tell me! Since then Ive been picking up jobs back home in MD and a few up here. But with no shops around here with experienced upholsterers, I went looking online for some extra info. Seems like I found a good bunch of ppl to learn from! Hope to have some more stuff up soon

I'm just starting to learn (my first class was tonight - I'm stoked!), so I'm not a good upholsterer yet, but check out where I'm from...

Not to hijack Whitney's thread or anything (like I'd ever do that ) but why not check into learning to do it yourself? Check with your local community college to see if they have classes on Automotive Upholstery. If so, they'll have everything you need to learn.

I'm going to bail you out, Alan. Whitney could be a male or female first name............( I didn't notice she had put her name in the first post, either!)
