I didn't feel like the 110v got hot enough for what i'm wanting to do in the future.... and it had drive roller issues..... and the tweco torch i bought extra for it, had a leaking gas valve, that was replaced x3 to no avail..... but it was handy. main issue was the drive roller slipping.... I just hope this 175 amp jobby will git 'r done.

I went with a MillerMatic 175 with cart and gas shield for $665 last year. What a great machine!

I bought a Dayton 110 mig about 15 years ago. Never had a problem with it, and [knock wood] it still performs great. It's been used from body panel repair to subframing my 40 Pontiac.

Miller bought Hobart several years ago. The Hobart is basically the Econo Miller now. Lincoln has rock solid products. Esab is also very good especially the plasma cutters. Don't forget Thermal Arc as another option. US made, a little lighter units than Lincoln or Miller, but looked after should do quite well.

I voted "other" I would buy based on features & specs. It would only be of the 4 makes I mentioned above, 2 of which were not listed in the vote selection.

Lincoln now owns Century welders. They bought Century from Clores Automotive in October of 2003.

Miller did not buy Hobart, that story has been floating around for a while now and sometimes I even hear that Hobart bought Miller but Hobart is no one's econo line. Both however are owned by the same parent company,ITW(Illinois tool Works) kind of like Chevy and Pontiac are both owned by GM and both Miller and Hobart have excellent products but they are still two separate entities under one parent company.

i halfarse think i should have gone ahead and held out and got the mm251. i'd know for sure that i'd never be lacking on machine for sure. But hopefully, this little 175A jobby will git'r dun.

My bud has the Lincoln 175...its a great welder he's very pleased with it. I just got a Lincoln Arc welder and also need a different plug, my slots go the wrong way

I have 3 Miller welders...Millermatic 250
Millermatic 135 (110) used for small sheet metal
Miller Econo-tig 150 I think...

I use Lincoln and Miller at work. I basically don't care for the Lincoln equipment. The Miller stuff is very consistant and parts are ALWAYS in stock if we need something...which is rare except for consumables. Just my .02.

I saw this too late to give any input prior to purchase, hopefully it is 220 volts. As has been touched on, only a few compnanies make welders under many names. That is always worth crodd-referencing.

I have a Lincoln 3200 110v and Hobart 180 220v not sure how the Hobart works yet just got it for my birthday from the wife. I have no complaints on the Lincoln just wanted the 220v welder.
Have used several leading makes and no complaints, well at my skill level!
