New to painting

My name is Eric from Chicago and I'm 16. I like hot rods but dont currently have one, i'm more in to painting than anything else. I joined this forum to get some tips from some pros about paingint and prep and everything about painting. My dad managed to get me a Satajet nr2000 spray gun from his work at no charge so thats what I use. Ive never been able to use it and would really like to. Whats held my back is paint, I cant get a hold of it! I have many projects that need to be painted but i cant track down automotive paint that they sell to the public in my area. Hopefully i can get some paint and start learning to spray.
