new rubber

Hello all, installed new door rubbers on 79Dodge pickup,they go all around jamb.Now doors wont close nless I slam em.Cant adjust doors cause of fit! any ideas to help ,thanks

Should be able to...............Are you sure that its not because the cab is more airtight. I know the old VW bugs, they suggested that you roll a window down a bit when shutting the door.....maybe try that first. If it closes well with the window down, adjustment wont help.

To be honest didn't try the open window,afraid to break it hehe.....I did lubricate them,let them "seat" for couple days before trying to open door again. Thanks Poncho.........

A trick I learned on my Grandfather's F-100: If you can open a vent inside the car or truck, open it and leave it open instead of rolling the window down. When you close the door, the air trapped inside has to go someplace or be compressed. You're discovering that you can't compress a cab full of air without slamming the door. Leaving a vent open will give the air trapped inside the cab a place to go without leaving a window cracked enough for the local thieves to gain access, and you can easily close it before you drive off.
