Post New to the scene, well kinda

Ok, welp finding a good muscle car forum is a pain in the *** i will let you all know that first .

My name is shaun, i'm from southern cali. I'll let you know now that i'm mostly into the import scene (not the trendy rice ****.. Mostly auto crossing and road racing, and of course some street). I like both muslce and import what can i say. I have not just been into the import scene only. My dad used to pit crew for a Top Fuel Team in the IHBA (Drag Boats, basically the same motors that are in the Top Fuel rails they put in these boats) and i was around for that but young (8-12).

My parents just gave me the boat. It was our family boat. It's a speed boat with a chevy 454 (that needs a rebuild) in it. I'm trying to get all the specs on it but right now this is all i know. It has a high rise manifold (thing is like a foot high) and has dual carbs with stacks. It has stock pistons (not sure the comp) and a stock cam. My question to you guys is i'm looking to beef it up a bit when i rebuild it. Maybe bump the compression up a bit, and get a little bigger cam. Maybe some perfomance lifters & rockers arms and what not. I was wondering if any of you could point me to any sites that have alot of information about diffrent parts and stuff so that i may learn more about this stuff.

Thanks guys.

Welcome aboard Dude.
Sounds like your gonna have one quick boat. I dont think I'll ask to ski behind it. As far as help, there are a few good Chevy people here and there is a pure Chevy site with great people on www.chevytalk.com also. If your Dad was on a pit crew, it sounds like you have good help in your own back yard(pardon the sorta pun). Goodluck. HG

What kind of boat is it? Jet, V-Drive? This will actually make a difference how the engine is built-cam choice, heads etc. Besides what you want to do with the boat - ski, race etc.
