New-school gasser...

I've been browsing some magazines lately and really been admiring the older 'gassers' when I decided I should do a rendering of what I'd call the 'new-school' gasser.

So, with that said, here's the first one...

I think something like this would be straight up bad-a__!!! So, who wants to build it?

Thoughts, comments? Or am I just loosing my mind??

No way, that's freakin cool. Love the tow tabs in the front and the ansen Sprints, man do I miss those days. we're having a MANDRA, NETO event this weekend at Island Dragway in New York but I can't make it. Great thing about art, your mind is the only thing stopping you from seeing it. Do More, Do More !!

re: New-school gasser...

I think them tabs are the shackles for the front springs, for the striate axle.

Yes...those are shackles.

Glad you guys like it. I've got a few tweaks I may make to it. Than I need to start on something new.

re: New-school gasser...

My bad, I was seeing it in a different way, I always remember flat towing our G/G 57 chevy with the tabs up there.

How about a new style Mustang fitted like Ohio Georges Fastback in candy apple red.

re: New-school gasser...

Illustrator...all of my work is done 100% in Illustrator, all vector art.

A Mustang was actually what I set out to do first, but then it hit me that the Charger just seemed more 'fitting' to do first.

re: New-school gasser...

The added details bring it more into a gasser feel of the earlier days, I like the improvements.

re: New-school gasser...

It was the later body styles that killed the Gassers.
They turned into slow Funny Cars, the new trend emerging at the time.

re: New-school gasser...

I remember well Malc when Modified Production was eliminated along with real gassers. By todays standards, nne of thesanctioning bodies would allow a car to go this fast without it sitting 4 inches off the ground, and forget a straight front axle. I just think the gas and modified had "Sex appeal" IMO.
