Hey guys,

I am new to the automatic world I usually have 4 speeds. Recently I purchased a 1970 Monte Carlo with a Turbo 400 trans and I know nothing about it. I can't seem to locate much on the web and I am looking to you for answers.

Does anyone have any pictures detailing the trans itself and what is what. I know based on the pan shape that is is a turbo 400. On the drivers side of the trans about half way back just above the pan is a lead sticking out with nothing attached. What is this, is it the kick down solenoid? I don't know. So if any of you could help me in any way I would appreciate it. A diagram or picture listing individual parts would be great.

the lead is the kickdown, yep

an orange wire attached to it from the kickdown switch mounted to the throttle or to the pedal


i can pic mine i have sitting in the back entry way if you want, its an '87 tag code LJA from a C-10 pickup, its technically called 3L80HD(TH475)
3L80 was the non HD 400

if yours doesnt have a raised HD cast onto the bellhousing anywhere then it is a regular TH400
