Question Newbie......

Howdy all,

New @ this so don't laugh. I gotta a 58 pontiac runnning a 370. Light smoke is coming outa my valve cap. Like the oil is getting to hot or the valves getting to hot? I have also noticed little chattering underneath the valve covers when I just turn off the car. What's going on?

Thanx,

Roisun(newbie)

in 58 there were no PCV systems ,they all had blowby tubes put in a PCV to evacuate the crankcase unless the smoke is comming out like a freight train

i have had lots of motors from the 50's and this is what i have found. #1 if it smells really sweet and you have a lot of smoke the engine is getting really tied.
# 2 if the engine has been sitting for a few years i have even seen it puke about a 1/2 pint of milky brown oily stuff out the breather tube. i think this is just moisture that has accumulated in the engine.
good lock
