newbie - 57 chevy pickup street rod

hey guys and gals - - i'm just a newbie posting my first. got a 57 chevy short stepside street rod. 350/350 - to be changed out soon! banana yellow with tan bucket. horror story driving home - seller said a straight axle front would wander. when home the wandering turned out to be a steering arm held on with one bent non-graded bolt that had only about a quarter inch thread holding. God is so good - i could have died with a simple bump in the road. Gas tank also had a quarter inch hole ON THE TOP that would leak every fillup and every good bump. Oh well on with the projects.

got the old aluminum tank out - the hole in the tank turned out to be a split in the sender / fuel pump unit somebody made when installing the sender by hammering the ring too hard. so, anybody need a 22 gallon aluminum tank? i go a new poly from tanks. it is for a 50 ford. i have made a steel tube cage to hold it. i removed the stock rear crossmember and made a new one out of thicker metal that is shaped so it will support my new tank. also had to repair / reinforce the frame from the rear shackles back due to a boogered up trailer hitch install from PO.

i also removed the prior owners poorly installed roll pan and am trying to make it fit a little better to the trucks outline.

out of the 8 bed to frame bolts, only two were in place and tight. have replaced all those.

will try to get some pics soon as i figure out how to post them.

Welcome. Take a look at New Interiors album . He has some nice frame and body mods on a 58 which is the same as your 57.
