Post Newbie with ? about Painting Galvanized Metal

Hello everyone. THis is my first post here and Its not really about a hot rod but rather a trailer I have. Its galvanized steel and I was thinking about painting it. The trailer is about 10 yrs old and is still in excellent conditions. Some very light rust on the fender edges but that about it.

I hear painting galvanized metal can be a problem. What has to be done and what do I have to use? Im on a budget and dont have any high tech equipment.

This is sort of a back yard job. The trailer wont be used much, but I would like it to look fairly nice.

Thanks

1Badhawk, welcome. Click on the link below. The page will come up for their self-etching primer. Shop the site and you'll find everything you need. You can also contact them with any questions. They've always treated me right. Good luck on your project!

Whoops! You'll have to click on " rust prevention" on the side menu.

I don't know if those products are available at regular auto parts stores ( Pep Boys, Advance, etc.) There is a body shop supply store here that sells retail. That's where I pick up supplies. Baltimore's a good size city, so you must have a few of them in town. Just let your fingers do the walking, my friend... ...oh, and if you have questions about applications or anything else, they should be able to answer them.

Check out your local paint jobber. The strictly auto body retail places or go to anywhere that does auto repair jobs and ask them to hook you up with where they get their paints.
