I dunno, I think its a 50/50 deal. Some of the old timers also have the flamethrower fired up when someone has a "less than intellegent" question or comment. Like anywhere, WE ALL need to play nice and respect each others opinion. No more
Must be I got too much sleep last night! I'm too nice today !

1: I am not trying to personally attack people because I would not want them to personally attack me. I'm sorry if that's the way I come off sometimes, but I truly don't mean it that way. 2: I am far from being a Noob. Check the date, check the member number........ Disregard this if you are talking about someone else!

On the outside chance that Gen3 WAS referring to Meancuda and the Bush/marriage thread specifically, I must respectfully disagree with the conclusion.
I found Cuda's posts on that thread to be thoughtful and from the heart. I think if all those guys had been sitting around sharing some suds and we happened in on the conversation it would come off sounding much different - even though they might have used the exact same words. What we miss on these boards is the gestures and voice inflection that go along with any conversation - especially when we are trying to be humorous or sarcastic. Also, the written word has a lot of built in limitations - and it is easy to make an erroneous interpretation of things. Which I believe is the primary cause of flame wars. Things misunderstood - rather than things intended. I, for one, didn't get the impression Cuda was being disrespectful. Yes, he forcefully disagreed on many points, but from my short time on this board it appears Mooch and Killer-f are both pretty used to taking some good natured ribbing and animated opposition to their positions - not to mention the fact that they both seem quite able to put up a pretty healthy fight in their own defense. I do, however, think participants on any board need to constantly remind themselves of the main point brought up by Gen3. Respect, respect, respect - no matter if it's a noob or an old timer in my opinion. Dewey

Rock on man- K BTW, to answer the real post, I've noticed a lot of that too. The problem is that sometimes these newer guys won't take others' advice, they just want to hear what they want to hear. Like if you tell them that it's stupid to put a shot of nitrous on a 30 year old, beat up truck with a stocker motor to race BMW's on the highway, they get all mad at you and stuff and tell you you're a square! LOL. Just one example. K

Ah, I think I know what he's talking about! I just get a little worried sometimes because, like cboy said, when you type stuff, you can't give it the non-verbals that would show people how you are really feeling. Instead, sometimes I come off like I'm all strung out and frustrated. I do like to get my point across, but I also respect others' opinions of situations. We can all disagree about everything and still be civil about it, which I think most members on this board are.
Thanks for the support guys! |

Well excuse me for being too poor to afford a new car like you! If I'm so hard headed, and wouldn't lesten to you, then why did you keep replying to my thread? Everything you've said to me has been negative. so how would you expect me to treat you. It's not going to bother me to be insulted. but you insulted my truck, and I resent that. |
