Newbie.. With Engine question..

Hey guys im new to this forum and well I just brought home my 1980 Malibu Classic, I will be posting pics of her pretty soon.. Anyways im a lil bit concern on the engine i would like to build, if so maybe your guys who have more wisdom/knowledge can give me some insight on what direction i should take. Well 1st off I was thinkin of going with a 350 - .30 bore/ hyperutiech pistons/ scat crank/ vortec heads / and possible a cam anywhere in the .500-525 range. I would be running th350 trans and possibly run 3.55 on the rear end and well just wondering any other combinations, advice you guys can help me would be greatly appreacited..

If the parts you listed are the extent of the combo you don`t need a scat crank unless your looking to stroke it to a 383. If you plan on leaving it a 350 the factory cast iron crank will do the job nicely. I used to have a 79 Malibu Classic 2 door and I`d give anything to have it back now.
So now lets get down to what are your power goals? Will it be for street and some strip, street only, strip only? How much is your budget?
