MI2600 I believe a bare block weighs 165lbs. With the crank, rods and pistons, my guess is 250-300.

flyin99 I know you don't want guesses, but I think it's about 400 lbs. They're usually about 550, when completely assembled, so take off the intake, carb, distributor, water pump and heads and you have lost over 100 lbs., surely. Just guessing though

what does a 400 sbc short block weigh?

i'm selling the 406 out of my ss & i need to know what a 400 short block would weigh so i can figure shipping charges. it's a complete short block, block, cast 400 crank, 5.7 rods, forged pistons, timing set, cam, lifters, oil pan, ect.

any idea?
