|Cape Cod Bob||Are you sure you won't do that any more ? I put a warning light on my SR to be sure. I had a swich on the gear shifter that I utilized and it will now be very difficult to make that mistake. Use to mhappen all the time before detroit came upm with the light idea.|

|kleen56||I'm gonna pull the brakes in a few days. The rotors look OK, a little blue but no cracks. I'll sand the surface of the pads as well. The brakes have less than a 1000 miles on them, and I think that saved me. Won't do that anymore!|

Rear disc stupidity
I've had rear disc brakes for a while. I'm using the 85 Cadillac calipers which gives the luxury of having an ebrake. While on my way to a car show with my two boys, I notice my car was all of the sudden smoking heavily out the rear and the engine was sputtering and popping?. Figuring I had a blown something on the engine, I managed to drive it home. The harder I pushed the engine, the slower the truck would go. My boy said it smelled bad like someone was barbequeing. Checked the engine, everything was fine. Engine ran great at an idle. So, I figured I'd go back to the car show. It ran a little better but the smell was still really bad and the truck just wouldn't pull like it use to. Looked down and noticed that my emergency brake lever was still pulled up engaging the rear disc brakes. Released it and everything went well. The rims had some brake pad dust on them, and it appears there is no damage to the rotors, but haven't checked the brake pads. My friends tell me to just keep driving on them since they are fairly new, the brakes will be fine. Still has the smell of burnt pads though. Anyone else do this stupid stunt?
