Hello eveyone, tonight my wife was having a jewelry party so I figured that it was a good time to swap the th350 trans for the 200r4 trans on our V8 Beetle project.
Here's what I have:
Engine is a 350 from a 77 3/4 ton chevy truck and had a th350 trans on it.
The 200R4 trans is a CZ5 out of a 87 monte with the stock converter.
So the trans bolted right up to the engine no problem and I checked the converter bolt pattern and it was the same as the th350 converter.
I put the two flywheel to converter bolts that I could reach finger tight and then was looking at the flywheel to rotate the 3rd bolt to where I could get to it.
Thats when I noticed that there was about a 3/8"-1/2" gap between the converter and flywheel.
Now I can pull the converter out of the trans and get it bolted up, but I wanted to make sure that there aren't supposed to be any spacers/shims between the flywheel and converter before I do that. There weren't any with the th350 trans, but I don't know about swapping them??????
I'd hate to pull the converter up and have it only partially engaged in the trans and screw something up.
Let me know if your having a hard time understanding what I'm trying to say and I'll get a couple pictures tomorrow when its light outside.
Thanks for the help....
