Is this a high mileage - older trans?

Any recent repair work , service work?

To lose all forward motion is a problem with the forward clutch pack usually.

Does the trans seem to hold power better from a full stop with the shifter in manual 1st gear?

sqzbox Might try finding a good used Governor and put it in and see if it helps. If not, your tranny needs a rebuild. Usually when all forward gears slip and rev is good the tranny is cooked.
