Custom95Z thanks DoubleVision...I'll try the oven cleaner for sure. I'm not so sure about the aluminum paint on the alternator, buddy put a crate motor in his truck and painted all of his brackets with the silver aluminum paint and it rubs off when you touch it? I'm not sure if it was a surface prep problem or possibly the brand of paint? I may just buy a new alternator lol Probably not but...I wonder if there's a way to oven clean the old alternator and cover the vent holes?? Thanks again for the info DoubleVision..

DoubleVision on the brackets, intake, I`d use Oven Cleaner, it`s all I use and it does a good job, spray it on, let it soak in a while, hit it again, then rinse off, as for the alternator, you can use a brush and some degreaser only do so lightly so it don`t get inside it, then you can put a few light coats of aluminum silver paint, it worked pretty good for me.

underhood aluminum cleaning?

I'm doing a head-job on my car and have all of the aluminum accessories off of the engine right now. I figured it would probably be a good idea to clean everything up while it was apart, but I'm not quite sure how to go about this. I'm looking for a way to clean the intake, throttle body, alternator, water outlet, and mounting brackets. Does anybody have any suggestions for doing this type of job? If so, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks ahead of time.
