aminga I have one and it works pretty well for Bama. Today it's 98 degrees with a dewpoint of 77 degrees. It will put out about 82 degree air on a day like today. But it won't cool the whole garage. Just the area I'm working it.

dinger I have a few buddies with them. One places his in front of the small door, pulls air from outside, then keeps the big door open about a foot. Lik Vince says, they work good in low humidity. Higher humidity, freeze some water in cardboard milk cartons, drop one or 2 in the bottom, it helps. Start running it in the morning when it's cool and that will help. They will contribute to rust factors, moist air across bare steel. Cheap to run tho, I'd do it.

302 Z28 In a low humidity environment they work great, just change out the media regularly or add some chemical to control mold and bacteria growth or it will start to smell like a swamp.

Portable swamp cooler

Do any of you guys use one in the shop? My shop/garage is about 35' deep and 50' ft wide, really don't need to cool the entire area but around the work bench "hot rod" portion would be nice. Been looking on the enet and man!! there are a ton of them. I think I could get away with a 1/2 motor and 800 cfm flow, anyone use one?.....and how did they work? thanks, Dave
