2old2fast are you talking flywheel,[manual shift] or flexplate [auto] the majority of manual shift bellhousings won't fit over a 14" wheel, better to know which you're using . dave

ericnova72 Which diameter flywheel is the Tilton starter made for?? 153 tooth is 12-3/4", 168 is 14".

Some race starters have a double inline pattern in the aluminum mounting block and can be used with either flywheel depending on which set of holes is used, is your Tilton this way??

SBC Flywheels

I need to get a new flywheel for my internally balanced 383. I see there are 2 available, a 153 tooth and a 168 tooth. I tried to look up what the difference between the 2 is, other than the obvious 15 teeth. I found the difference was between the staggered and inline bolt holes on the starter. Well, the block was a staggered and I drilled the 2nd hole inline so that I can use my Tilton starter. Which flywheel should I get??
