hey guys. I'm tossing up the idea of selling all my small block parts as I can't see to fine a mix between hp/torque/streetability/raceability. During my currant build Im on my third set of heads and cam as it seems hard to get a balance of all three. I want to race, but I want it to be street driven. So am after no more than 500hp, but in a small block that seems to make it less streetable, so maybe a 454 big block is a better option. If so, what heads am I supposed to look out for (like factory heads that flow well), what sort of cam/compression is needed with a big block to reach these sort of numbers 230 degrees and 10 compression.I have read a lot about people building street friendly 500hp 454 chevys with gobs of torque it is just a matter of knowing which parts to hunt for as I am unfamiliar with the bbc stuff. Any help here would be appreciated.. I was building 383 with sportsman head which flow mid 240s at half in lift but engine builder said due to poor velocity as low lift woudl nit be high figures throughout rev range just peak h/p as they ported out and measure 215ccc. So if someone can tell me a hp factory head and a cam to suit and what size carby I'll hit the net and start buying. cheers
