I also have an HEI from Skip White.
It's worked very well for me.

I advise against the Mallory. I bought one and used a Sun machine to test the curve. The shaft is so weak that it dropped 3 degrees at 4500 rpm.
Pertronix makes a wide variety of dizzys that are really bulletproof for the price.

I am running a skipwhite hei's in two different motors. One is in my 350 and the other is in my brothers 305. Both hei's looked excellent and way better then the old oem one I had and also they both worked excellent and they always fire right up with no issues.

|bubbahotep||I have that skipwhite and love it. Right out of the box it was a major difference from the OEM dizzy I had. I have it with MSD box, removed the coil in the cap and used my msd coil and my timing is dead on throughout the rpm range. Material appeared to be stronger than the orignal hei I had in my 86 monte carlo so for the price I felt it was a great deal. There is a post somewhere on this website where it was compared to the MSD dizzy and, I think, it was the same product.|

What is wrong with the one you have just wondering?
Not sure what "cheapie" means cause anyhing can wear out even the one you are considering. A low cost dist that most likely is different from typical MSD HEI only in the brand label or lack of one,,, this is not procomp:
Works good, well built, mine is anyhow

Which GM HEI distributor?
Hey guys, I have a 67 El Camino with a sbc 350 and turbo 350 tranny. The motor has all the typicals, headers, holley, edelbrock manifold, Comp cam 270, and 4.10 gears. I would consider this a mild build and it is a street only car. I have a cheapie pro-comp hei distributor and is starting to give me problems. I want to buy a new GM hei vacuum advance distributor. I want to keep the price under $200, there are a lot to choose from. I was thinking of buying the Mallory hei #8548201c. Summit has it for $155.99. Any thoughts on this distributor, any other recommendations?
