|AndersonRacing44||I was looking at my 350 pontiac with the stock distributor and coil and theres a good amount of room for the HEI to fit. so it should fit with the 455.|

It says it fits 75 and up. My block is a 455 from 1970... i looked up the change over parts and they say all distributors fit from 55-79. aside 455 SD motors.

Eric is correct about the '58 to '62 forged rods (commonly known as rubber rods). In my opinion, cast rods are stronger. I used a set once and one broke at 5800 rpm, and of the rest, three were bent. As far as four bolt vs two bolt mains, unless you are going all-out racing, two bolt will be fine. It would be advantagous to switch to studs instead of bolts, though.

If they are factory early-mid 60's forged rods...don't bother, they aren't much better than stock cast rods. If they are '73-74 Super duty rods... jump all over that.
Eagle makes a good Pontiac I-beam at a good price. also look at Pacific Racing.

|AndersonRacing44||thanks! yea, the guy that sold me the engine threw in a brand new crower cam. And he has a set of forged rods that he only wants 100$ for. mabye ill pick em up.|

A large amount of Pontiac blocks are drilled for 4 bolt mains but only have 2 bolt caps. It wouldn't be something to worry about adding them unless you intend to make a high rpm engine out of this 455 (6000rpm and up). I'd worry about the stock rods looong before I'd worry about 2 bolt mains, very smart move to trash the factory (CAST ) rods and go aftermarket forged.
Crower (not Crowler) is a really good company, I have used them for years, one of the early forefather companies in the industry, been around a long time.

2 bolt or 4 bolt mains. pontiac 455
well the 455 i got has 2 bolt mains, but is drilled for the 4 bolts. the block is already line bored for the crank and is ready to be put in. is it worth it to spend the extra money (idk how much its going to cost) to have the 4 bolt mains?
its going to be a 10:1 motor pretty agressive cam.
Also is Crowler? (i think thats the name) are they good cams?
