kleen56 Billet heads make a huge difference in performance especially on the 5.0 engines. I'm running ProComp and am very pleased. They aren't too expensive and they aren't the cheapest either. I'm running the PC3038 series which has the 210cc intake port and 70cc exhaust. Intake valves are 2.02" and the exhause valves are 1.60". There are several options as far as heads go... To save money, some Ford guys go with the GT40 heads which also work nicely.
As for a cam, that's up to you and what you want the cam to do. Ford Motorsports has a great catalog with cams and are a good option to go with. You'll be running roller rockers so you can opt for a higher lift cam. I'm running the Motorsports cam. I've had good luck with Crane cams and Edelbrock makes a good one as well.

Hi guys...

I have a 1987 5.0HO which I have converted to a carb setup. I was planning to do a blow-thru turbo setup but I have changed my mind and now I need some tips for making some decent power. The main thing I am looking at adding are aluminum heads and a cam. Here is my setup right now:

car weight 2700~ with driver
4.10 LSD rearend (IRS)
27x10.5 slicks
stock 5.0HO longblock (forged pistons)
underdrive pulleys
single plane hi-rise intake
Holley 625
HEI dist. with MSD 6AL ignition
-8 fuel line
Holley "Blue" fuel pump

Any opinions on what size heads/cam I should go with? I am not planning to touch the bottom end at all except to doe the camshaft. I want to keep short block completely stock other than the cam.
