I have a 5.7 90 truck with vortec heads and I'm trying to gap my spark pluges. I bought some plugse and they didn't last long so I did some reading . Come to find out I was buy the wrong pluges. The vortec heads use a longer spark pulgue so now I need info on gaping them.
The truck is my DD , I put in 650 miles a week. The 5.7 is stock with a 1405 eddy carb. it had NGk and they didn't last 3 months , I pulled a plug and it had brown rust on the plug. They went from a .035 gap to a .040 gap.
I'm running the NGK plugs gapped at .045, runs great.
