Seriously thinking of repainting my beloved "HENRY" Rally Yellow this spring. What do you guys think ? Here's what it looks like now . Would you leave it like it is (Black Cherry) or go with the 2011 Camaro Rally Yellow ? Seriously in a quandry here . I would be keeping the frame and underpinnings the same red as now . Thanks in advance ........
Nice ride ! I think I will be happy with the Cabernet Red Pearl body and Rustoleum Regal Red frame combination. I like keeping the Rustoleum on the frame because it seems fairly often that I find a chip in it and have to touch it up .
My buddy that is going to paint it insists on using S/W , since that is what he shoots on a daily basis and also insists on using base/clear on everything he paints. I am just picking out the color and he can buy what he wants to spray . I have always been a fan of wine red metallics . Side note is my wife doesn't understand why I want to repaint it when it looks so good now. I just want it to be a little brighter . Besides, the paint job is free in trade for the 454 that I built for him .
S/W is not a bad paint line at all. If you buy budget stuff...expect budget stuff. However, their more expensive line is on par with PPG et al.
I would suggest thinking about adding a little silver metalflake or dry pearl to the equation for a custom look and even more pop. Buffing this with Menzerna (sp) and new foam pads will help with the pop as well.
I agree w/the little lady on this one. All I would do is add some tasteful thin-line pinstriping and leave well enough alone. But I do understand you wanting to get your equity back before the debt ages too much...

Yeah, that is for sure. I like the color it is now and have enough left to repaint it, but I think I will like the Claret Red Pearl even better. I did redo the steering on the car and have to patch where the draglink came through the body any way and there is no good place to break the paint short of repainting the whole side. BTW I put in a tilt column going through the firewall and mounted the steering box on the inside of the frame rail between the radiator and the engine. It drives better with the draglink crosswise for some reason also. Bron (my bodyshop buddy) just called back and said the paint is $35.60 a qt. so I can afford to buy the paint. We are just trading labor. He has $3,100.oo in the 454 with me providing free labor to build it.
The factory code 72 GM light yellow on my C10 is IMO one very good hotrod hue, real deep base in low light, takes on some greenish tones cause of the blue in it,,,gotta see it.
Thanks for the reminder. I had looked at that website last year but had since forgotten about it. Maybe just a little more pearl to really make the Cabernet Red Pearl really jump ? I'll have to talk to my painter and see what he thinks . He was talking at one time about going with a cameleon paint job , but I think it's time may have already past . I think the cam' was more of a novelty, that I really don't care that much for the look of anymore . JMO

My wife actually likes the Mustang yellow that looks like french's mustard to me . LOL . Personally I think that if a person goes with yellow , it would have to be ALL yellow . Frame, eng, etc. Otherwise....yuck .....JMO
