i hope some one can help me out.
i have a 66 bronco with a clunking noise in the rear end and a hesitation, can feel some thing is holding the bronco back for a second. it will happen as the rotation is completed to the same spot.
i can hear the noise on the passenger side in the rear.
could it be a bearing? or a brake shoe ?
thank you for all the help in the past, and i hope some one can direct me to what to look for with this problem.
again thank you

Hi
I think you may have an 8.8 rear as the axles in the 9" slide right out. However an 8.8 has C clip retainers.
jack the rear end up, put drain pan under rear end & remove the cover. look in at the center of the differential & you'll see a big pin in the middle, as you turn the drive shaft you'll see there's a 12 point 5/16 bolt on one end. Remove that bolt then push the pin out (must be pushed from inside out to be able to get it out). (If/when you spin the tires now the spider gears and shims will fall out. Not a big deal) Push the tire in , it will move about a 1/4 of an inch, now look at the end of the axle where that big pin was & you'll see a big C clip on the end of it, it should push right off. Now you can slide the axle out.
Good luck
