tnovot Do you happen to have a Holley carb? If so, you might want to try a size larger on the primaries.

SSedan64 Some Shops also install a hose down the Dipstick tube & suction the old fluid out. They can also flush the Trans using the Cooler lines while the Engines running. So maybe they didn't hose you like some shops have others .
A flush isn't usually a good idea as it can cause many problems.

cobalt327 Not siding w/the shops, but the pan gasket will sometimes get reused if it's in good condition. Burnt fluid (not just dark, I'm talking dark and smelly) isn't something that a fluid and filter change will 'cure'- not for long, anyway.

I decided to replace the transmission fluid myself just recently, at 127,000 miles as I have complained about this problem each time I took it to a so called "reliable " transmission shop for a filter and fluid change.
It turns out that the three previous times they charged me for servicing, nothing was done because I found the original gasket on the pan.
What a buncha Crooks.
The fluid was burnt, but no filings. It was kinda dark and thick, but after changing the fluid with a recommended fluid for high mileage vehicles it is now shifting alot better. I saw the thread about using seafoam trans stuff and I just added 1/2 a bottle. I will let it circulate awhile and then change it again. I think it is pressure solenoid journals are clogging. It is fine when it is cold and then acts up after it gets hot.
I haven't yet tried leaving it in third. I will try that next. It does seem to happen only in third gear with light throttle.

cobalt327 How does it behave if you take it out of OD?

SSedan64 May have better luck with this ?? in the Trans/Rear section.

More Info needed:
Light or heavy throttle?
Which gears? All?
Fluid condition, burnt/smelly,clear red?
Filter/fluid ever changed?

I see where someone else is experiencing the same problem I am having at 127,000 miles. Does anyone know how to resolve??
