Bigolotava No problem... if you didn't mess with the pressure regulator, I wouldn't touch it, unless it's leaking and you have a new O-ring for it.

On your power steering pump there's a what looks like a large bolt on the rear of the reservoir that the high pressure hose screws into. This is actually a flow control valve. Check-out the link below for a great close-up picture that explains it very well:

1 = Flow Control Valve (O-ring goes in groove to the left of the groove labeled "A")
2 = Pressure Regulator (easy to install backward if you've never done before)
3 = Spring

Anytime you remove the flow control valve, you should replace the O-Ring, as it gets hard with age and fails to seal, causing an annoying drip/leak that often is mis-diagnosed as a leaky high-pressure hose. You can get replacement O-rings at NAPA, your GM dealer, Autozone or Checker/O"Reilly.

Prior to installing a new O-ring it's best to wrap a piece of Masking or Duct tape over the threads (they're sharp!) to avoid tearing or cutting the new o-ring when you're installing it. Once installed, remove the tape and you're good to go!

truckboy61 thank you for replying im still learning can you explain about pressure regulator for power steering and how to verify if its correct ? I only replaced pump and hoses ?

Bigolotava The port closest to the front of your Elky is the input and the rearmost is return. If it's correct and still spurts, the pressure regulator is probably installed backwards.

power steering pump issue

66 elky just replaced power steering pump and am getting fluid shooting up through cap ? tried bleeding and just took off lines to make sure nothing stuck that's creating back pressure ? When standing facing car and steering box which fitting is power and which is return maybe I got them mixed ?
