I just bought that 100 dollar panel to fix the lower section of the windshield lower channel rust.It looks like it just goes to the end of the dash on each side. The side facing the dash is bent down and has holes all the way across. Am I suppose to cut that excess off if I don't need it? A couple of those tangs go over the defrost ducts. Also there is rusted out metal under the orig panel so do I need to fix it? It's going to be a drag car so it don't have to be perfect.

Mine was rusty enough I used the whole piece. I just laid it over top the OE channel, scribed a line, cut the old one off and butt welded the new one fast.
This pic is after I spotted it in place. I finish welded it here a month or so ago and filled primerd, painted, and put in a new windshield.
I just primered it to keep ol man rust away, (till I could get back to working on it)

Windshield and back glass rust

I had a hard time selling this car since no one wants to do body work. I have some holes and some real rough spots. I can weld some metal in there but The rough spots I painted Hirsch paint and it is hard and I ordered some all metal filler to fill the seem on the car that I am keeping after a roof replacement. I have welded metal on the roof rplacement on the front pillars and going to try the all metal on the rear roof to quarter seams. After the paint can I use the filler to level the rusty pitted channel before paint and How big of holes can I cover with that all metal filler. The high torque race car will be filled on the rear quarters to roof seam after good weld but I will primer and race before paint to make sure it dont crack unless someone can tell me a 8 second car wont crack there on launch with that filler. The old guys says use lead. But how good is that filler for covering holes in window channels?
