302 build questions
Ok so I'm building a short stroke/long rod 302 for a high revving naturally aspirated road racing motor. Basically I have a Mexican 302 block and im planning on using a Eagle 289 crank with a 2.875 stroke. Now the real question is I'm wanting to use 5.400 H-beam rods and im having trouble doing the math and getting proper specs without a disassembled motor in front of me. What would the piston height have to be to fit this rod if it is even possible. Im also wanting the compression ration to be in the 12.5 to 13:1 range. This motor is going to have Procomp aluminum heads,Comp Cams dual valve springs,Comp Cams titanium retainers, Crower stainless steel shaft mount roller rockers, and mechanical roller lifters with a custom ground cam . If i learn a bit more about the in and outs of building a drysump oiling system i might do that but for the moment to plan is a high volume/high pressure pump with a deep sump pan. Im building a sheetmetal manifold and will be running 4 weber dual downdraft throttle bodies with a megasquirt 3 ecu system. The usable power range im looking for is around 7000-10000rpm. I know its just spitting off a parts list but this is the plan and I want your opinions on my piston height question and the project as a whole. Also please no "just build a stroker" comments if I wanted to I would.
Another question is will a Billet steel flywheel hold up to constant runs of above 8000? Ive seen them put up with it at the strip but will it hold for a continuous amount of time?
