|johnstoirvin||With a numerically higher rear end ratio, the normal orerating RPM range will be higher. The increase in wear, in all gears, not just lower ones, will be negligible, but expect somewhat less MPG.|

Switching gears again
Not for sure if this belongs here but here goes. I was thinking of changing my gears in my truck. Have 342 and a 700r4 now and really like the holeshot performance but of course as a performance junky I want more. I was leaning toward 373. I was wandering will the added rpm increase in the lower gears paly in role in more rare and tear on my motor. Mind you my motor isnt expensive or monsterous in power at all. Just a calm, nice driving 305 that sees some tire peeling once in a while. just stop light to stop light revs. I wont beat on it often, just occasionally. Should I stick with 342 or gone upgrade to 373.
