Excessive valve spring pressure is what pulls them out, anything above valve open pressure of about 270 lbs will do it. The inexpensive way to prevent pullout is to use a pinning kit....

gerbsinmd If you have some that are loose, the rest won't be far behind. I'd do them all.

Admeril Thanks for the info. I thought thats what i was going to have to do. whould you replace all of them or just the ones that are loose

BOBCRMAN@aol.com If the STUD comes out. The most practical thing to do is buy a threaded repair stud. Thread (tap) the existing hole, place sealer in the threads and screw repair stud into the hole.
