I am planning on replacing my coil-overs on the rear of my car, since this is a 31 chevy coupe all steel, 12' GM rear, i don't know how much it weighs. I have been looking at Speedway's AFCO, or QA1 coils but not sure what spring rate would be the best. If anyone has a suggestion on spring rate that would be helpful. sc
a t bucket usually runs about a 150# spring.. ur a little heavier so look at the nx size up... that'll get u really close.. don't forget the angle makes a differance too... the more angle the more spring...
90 lbs to 120 lbs on the rear of a 2650lb Stock car on a dirt track 5/8s mile at 115 mph on a banked track surface and never had to go higher to be competitive. The rule is the lighter rate the better front and back..
Several posts previously - including mine for my '31 about that very subject. I ended up with 200 rear and 325 in the front. These are corrected for inclination to 188/300. So far seem to be perfect. I used the Speedway/AFCO charts for my general choice and it worked. Plus they are pretty too
thanks for all the post its looks like a spring rate about 175lbs for the rear will be a good place to start. my springs look to be about 15- 20 degs from 90. The AFCO ones look nice and won't break the bank. sc
