I prefer modified externally for practicality. Fender flares for fiat tires, clearances rocker panels for big pipes, hood scoops only if functional and for clearence. If it works, who cares. (thanks for that phrase Adam.)

My latest 92 camaro B4C/1LE 305 5 speed 3.45 9 bolt rear, I had a hose blow off the otherday and overheated it pretty bad so its hurt, so I was thinking of a LT1 swap, but I cant bring myself to butcher this car, so its getting a vortec 350 shortblock, with the tpi 305 heads and a zz4 cam.

|455olds||I like older cars stock bodied with lots of power. My '42 Chevy is mostly stock body with an Olds 455/400 combo and one of the quicker cars I have owned. I like them all but sleepers are fun.|

Totally depends on the car for me. My current projects:
66 Pontiac Bonneville: 10.5" FF rear, 1-ton front spindles, duramax LLY. It is designed to look like a custom touring car that would be mistaken for a stocker by many if it weren't for the 8-lug wheels.
99 Econoline Diesel: Totally stock cargo-van appearance right down to the stamped steel wheels and E-load tires, but concealing a cold air intake, catalyst delete, 5" exhaust, and (eventually) intercooler, heavy tuning, modified turbo, and 400 RWHP.
96 Impala SS: Lowering springs, 20" wheels, but nearly stock with the exception of 4.10 gears, Torsen-style posi, and some PCM tuning. Performs mostly stock, but looks great.

Im a combination I guess: I build fast & Loud out the dumps!! But fairly quiet out the mufflers its a sleeper . When that's done I hit the body & change it ( I want it different then any other on the road ) and then I add paint Ill probably scallop & Lace or Spider web on my vette! (spider web comes out of the gun like silly string) it doesn't really look like a spider web its just an old technique. Then I do the interior!
I did a lot of body mods already. hard to tell till its next to another vette Some of you might see them! I drive em as I continue to work on em ! this car was T boned bad! but the frame wasn't touched. I bought it for $500 bucks. My wife thought I was crazy ! I stretched the nose, and took about 3" off the top of the fenders to bring the front end to more of a point those are two of the major mods and lightened it by 400 lbs. I always hated vettes but when Im done there will be a lot of my blood & sweat in this one! And its a hoot to drive
In all these picture its just painted in different sealers !! Im not ready to paint yet!

I like it crazy loud. Big snarling engine with wide tires and racing stripes. Then add a dash of rice for good measure.
434 SBC Porsche 928. Tons of chrome, Satin black paint, yellow stripes, 335 rear tires. Just enough cheezy to keep from taking myself to seriously. Started with a 383, then went to a 434 SHP. Wish I could shoe horn a big block in there.

I've always wanted my cars to look the part, but not be posers. I don't want my cars to look really fast, but run slow, nor do I care to own a sleeper. I've always leaned towards performance and personalizing my vehicles.

I am also a stock looking kinda guy, to me if you have to make it look fast , then you are making up for a short comming under the hood..lol I know its not like that always, but for the majority it is..AKA the guys with 30 inch wheels..lol I like not attracting attention , and being sneaky..

I'm a "visual guy". For me, if it looks factory, it just isn't exciting enough. I've always liked for my cars to grab you by the throat, before you even hear the sound of lumpy cams, explosive throttle action, or squealing rubber!
In the end, you need to satisfy yourself. Do you want it to look vintage... or be a sleeper? ...maybe have a "sneaky personality"? Do you want people to take a second look... or a third... then get the camera out? It's up to you.
