Getting my '51 Chevy ready for the road so I can just drive it. Gas tank didn't leak with 1/2 tank of old fuel in it. I pumped the old fuel out and it's been dry ever since. I'v never had it out so I don't know the condition of the top, but the bottom looks nice.. Have new hose kit and straps to put on it.. Any reason to not use it if it still looks ok? new tanks are $150-200ish so having it boiled out is likely not worth it
I had one boiled out and pressure tested at a local radiator shop from my '54 that had sat 4 years and old fuel was like varnish,I dropped it off on a Thursday so it could spend the weekend in the tank it looked like new when I picked it up,cost was $60.
Boiling tanks around me costs north of $100. thinking about it. Orig has a drain, and new 1's don't. So it might be worth it
