As you may have guessed, I put the window on the back burner as I had many other things to do on my 36 Ford in the mean time.
The way I removed the window was to first remove the window regulator from the door. To do this you must have someone hold the glass as you drop the mechanism and guide the arms of the regulator along the track to one of the two small opening in the runner for each arm.
Next, you firmly grasp the window and lift it straight up as it has a large frame that extends about a foot below the window and into tracks on each side.

I just had the windows in my coupe (36 ford)installed, then the door windows had to be replaced, crank windows and power windows will often be different sizes, crank windows a touch smaller. My glass guy installed ALL my glass for $300, this is a 5 window. For that kind o money, I will watch the expert work and not have to worry about messing something up. If you don't have rust or silicone problems, they are not hard to get apart. Look at the door and see what it takes to get the channel loose, the metal that holds the window at the bottom. Then it's mostly a matter of turning the window one way or another to pop it out. One thing most folks tend to do is over-think the process, these cars are made in a factory where speed in assembly is essential, there is usually an easy way to do anything. And most makes of cars will do things the same way, there's not that many ways to skin a cat. Good luck. Dan|

Getting the bottom piece off the glass, sometimes can be hard as they use a glue or sealer on it. You don't want to break the glass, because nobody might have a pattern for it.

chevsofthe40s covers '37-'54. but my thinkings is the door diagram for the '37 would be close enough to figure it out for the '36.. they do have ~some~ stuff for '35-'36, but they don't advertise having parts for them because there is so little they carry
Edit: I am thinking Chevrolet for some reason..
can't be hard. the only thing I know is, the window usually has to get rolled down a bit

I'm not sure for your particular car, but www.chevsofthe40s.com has very good illistrations of the door/ door hardware for '37- up in the catalogs, so you should be able to figure out how to get it out pretty easy, as a '36 isn't much diffrent in design[/QUOT
matt167 Not to be a smart a-- but I don;t think chevs from the 40s will help much in this case, he has a 36 ford cabriolet.

I'v never been nice to old glass. just roll the window down a little, and hit it on the edge with a 1/4" socket wrench.. you will need to vacuum up lots of glass tho.. J/K

1936 Ford Window Removal From Door
I want to remove the passenger door window from my 1936 ford Cabriolt (2 door convertible). it needs new glass.
What is the best way to do this, without doing any damage to the window channel or window regulator and rollers OR DOOR?
