hinges56 Thanks Bodyman, It sounds like I had better order some gray primer for the blue. I'm a little concerned about the time limit (7 days) before I have to reprime and start over. I'm trying to do this right but I'm not fast by any means!

Usually does not need to be the same color BUT about the same shade of gray to get better coverage. Certain transparent colors (metallics and pearls) require the same color & shade to spot match.

Should work well but don't get tempted into turning up the pressure to go faster. Turn it down and take your time. DO get a pro respirator, blasted sand is ground glass, nasty stuff.

primer color

I'm getting ready to paint my car dark blue and white. (56 belair) I read that epoxy primer (spi) should be as close to the same color as the base for coverage. Do you think it's necessary to use two different colors of primer as well? When I started out, I was only gonna fix a couple spots in the white paint so I bought white primer. Now the whole car is down to metal.... Question on rust. (oh no, not again!) I have the outside of the car stripped and the major rust in the process of being replaced. Will a cheap spot sandblaster from harbor freight work on the small rust areas without ruining the panels? I used it on the inner fenders and it seemed to work ok and leaves a nice surface to prime. I have read so many other things to kill rust that I'm confused! Ospho, navel jelly, sandblast and prime, or prime over the surfacerust and tiny pits? I wish I could post pics but " i aint bery smart" Thanks again for all the help!
