|Caprice Sleeper||I never thought my 305 was going to be a performance engine, It was going to be just a step up from my V6 that I have now. I just wanted to get a little extra power out of the 305 with a set of vortec heads. I thought with the improved heads it would be more efficent and reliable until I build my 350 and then ill have a real sleeper.|

|Caprice Sleeper||or maybe instead of putting all this time and effort into a 305 that im starting to understand why people hate so much I should just take my 350 one piece rear main .040 over block and build that. It has been acid cleaned (or whatever it's called) just needs to be honed and get a rebuild kit. Seems like everytime I take one step forward I take two steps back, I'll learn someday.|

I use the Professional Products Crosswind vortec intake.
No problems or quality issues, big power. A great intake manifold.
At least equal to the edelbrock rpm.
Your quality statement with this manifold is unfounded.
Many of the junk intake manifolds (reguardless of brand) and a lot more. sold on ebay is seconds or stuff that was sold off for scrap by the manufacturer and not intended for resale.
The problem is not the manifolds its the ebay sellers passing of junk defective scrap for the real deal.
The edelbrock RPM vortec and the GMPP eliminator dual plane both have provisions for hot water plenum heat. The air gap does not.
It has to get real cold for this to be an issue.
Too hot a carb or manifold is much more of an issue most of the time.

|327NUT||There's a ZZ4 intake on ebay right now for $104........but there's hundreds of Edelbrocks. None of them will be worth a chit with 7 to 1 compression and 3.08 gears........better re-think a few things.|

I don't mean to offend, but a stock 305 cam is miniscule and you dramatically lowered the already low compression with the 350 heads. You might be in the low 7's with compression.
You could probably stuff drinking straws in the intake ports and never run out of breath.
The GM intake came installed on millions of ZZ4 crate engines and probably half of those buyers took it off for something else. I bought mine as a new take-off for $40 plus $10 shipping on Ebay.

saving money is always the best route. and their is even cheaper products out there that work just as well that you haven't even looked at.

Edelbrock performer or GM performance intake?
Engine: 1990 305, 906 vortecs, factory roller cam, Q-jet carb, Factory exhaust, daily driver. Vehicle: 1980 B-body (caprice), 200 4r, 3.08 gears, 215/70R15 tires.
My intake choices were between edebrock, professional products, or GM performance. I searched this same question and no one had anything good to say about the professional product intake. Eveyone was saying they are cheap chinese junk so I eliminated that one right away. I couldn't find any coments on the GM performance vs the edelbrock. I have seen some people talk about the exhaust crossover (which my vortec heads do not have) for cold weather starting. I don't know how important the crossover is but I don't mind if I have to let it warm up for a few minutes in the winter. Winters can get pretty cold in New England, the coldest I have seen was -10 for a few days. Anyways just wanted to know if anyone is familiar with the GM performance manifolds, it's about $140 more than the edelbrock but if it's a better manifold I don't mind paying for quality.
