From those cam specs I am thinking you are too high on the compression for that cam. However that is speculative.
Find out the intake closing point of the cam, plug it into this calculator along with the other engine specs etc and see what you come up with. Dynamic compression ratio is important to determine cam selection.
List the aspects of the vehicle weight, trans type, rear gear, tire size all these have a say as well

Performer Cam Vs Higher Compresion
Ive already Had little feedback on this but as always like to hear more than one opinion.
can anyone tell me or direct me to were I can find out if a sb Chevy performer cam would work with a 350 engine with a static compression ratio of around 10.02.1 ??
If it will Ill be a happy boy as wont need to buy a new cam.
cam specs as follows.
BY2291730 262-400 1957-94 "Performer" flat tappet camshaft- idle to 5500rpm �70.09
Duration @ .050" lift = In 204, Ex 214, Valve lift = In .420", Ex .443", Lobe sep 112.
Use springs BYVS-677
if not does anyone have a cheap recommendation ? if I could re use my new
vs-677 springs it would be another bonus.
